The Fact: During a ground report by Peek TV on Delhi's Yamuna, the team met a man who claimed to take daily baths in the river despite its visibly toxic foam, contamination, and strong stench. When Peek TV's co-founder Priyanshi Sharma asked the reason behind this, the man stated that the river is his ‘mother’, and he cannot abandon her no matter what the condition. To demonstrate his strong belief, he even drank the river water on camera.
The Context: Delhi's Yamuna in present times is one of India’s most polluted rivers, with scientific data to back this. The safe faecal coliform levels in the river for bathing are supposed to be below 2,500 MPN/100 ml. For the Yamuna, though, these levels have reached ‘extreme’ levels. At ITO Bridge, for context, it is reportedly 92 lakh MPN/100 ml, over 4,000 times the permissible limit. Most of this contamination comes from untreated sewage, industrial waste, and household discharge. Experts warn that such water carries harmful bacteria linked to human waste, which can cause life-threatening diseases.

But the river they have been worshipping for centuries is no longer what it once was. Many like him are willing to drink toxic water to prove devotion, many are compelled to use this water for their basic chores, and base their daily livelihood around it. Overall, it is a systemic failure on the part of every government that ruled over Delhi, a failure of awareness, and an unwavering and dangerous faith.
Jaipur’s Cry For Help: Pink City’s UNESCO Tag Under Threat Amid Urban Neglect
The Fact: India's Pink City, Jaipur, is now at risk of losing its UNESCO World Heritage status. The city was inscribed in 2019 by UNESCO for its unique 18th-century grid-based urban planning. But now it is under scrutiny for several violations, which include illegal constructions, encroachments, and weak enforcement of heritage protection laws.
The Context: The capital city has thousands of encroachments along sections of the old city wall. Several illegal construction projects are disrupting the planned urban layout, one of the reasons the city received this global accolade. While the government has assured actions, the expected delays in their work and the usual lack of accountability have allowed a gradual degradation of a city that was once celebrated for its architectural coherence and cultural richness.

The Fact: Iran issued a strong warning to the United States of America if the country sends its ground troops into its region. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf cautioned the United States that it is all prepared to retaliate forcefully. He further warned that any deployment of American troops would be met with severe consequences, such as attacks on US universities situated in West Asia.
The Context: The conflict is now entering its second month. The U.S., on its part, has reportedly increased its military presence in the region, including troop movements linked to the USS Tripoli and the 82nd Airborne Division, which led to the Iranian provocation. The regional conflict has now reportedly claimed 3,000 lives. Despite that, the US and Israel are not willing to back down as Iran has control over the critical Strait of Hormuz, which has completely disrupted the global oil flows.
The Peek Insight: Right now, air and proxy warfare are going on in the region in full force. If boots-on-the-ground are also added, it could trigger a far more direct and prolonged war. For the US, it might have further repercussions as it might need to draft its citizens for the ground invasion, and the government will likely face widespread protests from the Americans if such a decision is made. The Fact: A report by The New York Times has claimed that Billionaire Elon Musk joined a high-level phone call between U.S. President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a call which was held to discuss the escalating situation in West Asia. However, India’s Ministry of External Affairs has completely denied this.
The Context: Addressing the report, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that the call took place only between PM Modi and President Trump, and there wasn't any third-party involvement. Musk’s inclusion, if true, would be highly unusual, as private individuals are rarely part of sensitive diplomatic conversations. On the other hand, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt didn't address any such rumours and instead described the call as "productive."
The Peek Insight: The Trumpian era has so far been defined by conflicting narratives, particularly vis-à-vis India. While Musk has held important portfolios in Trump's administration in the past and made certain crucial decisions through the DOGE, his companies, including Tesla and SpaceX, are deeply tied to global supply chains, which are affected by the West Asian instability. Vijay himself will be contesting from two constituencies — Perambur (Chennai) and Trichy East — both of which are currently under CM MK Stalin's Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).
The Context: With Vijay's entry, the Tamil Nadu elections will shape up into a three-front contest: The DMK-led alliance under Stalin, the opposition's AIADMK and BJP, and the solo TVK. Vijay has been positioning his campaign around youth and their welfare with promises of education loans, job support, and anti-drug initiatives. The actor will likely make use of his popularity among Gen Zs as he eyes the CM seat.
